Making the Essential Enjoyable & Easy

Making Monday

I've heard it said that how we feel on Mondays is one of the clearest indicators of life satisfaction. Here is a quick thought on how to make Monday—and every day—work better...

The Power of How

I previously wrote about the Possible, Probable, Inevitable framework for accomplishing important things.

The most useful tools for creating momentum through these stages are HOW questions.

HOW questions are the bridge from ideation and consideration to tangible action.

We first get clear about WHAT we want (and don't want).

We also clarify WHY we want it—what's in it for us, others, and the world.

I shared a process for these steps when I wrote about Desire.

Those considerations constitute the possibility phase.

But on the other side of them lie the HOW questions. This is where action takes shape...

“OK, I know what I'm trying to bring about and why it's important, so HOW do I get started?”

And fortunately, we don't need to start from a blank canvas.

We can ask…

• Have I ever done this before?

• Have I done something similar that might have transferable knowledge, skills, or abilities?

• Has ANYONE ever done this?

• How did they do it?

• How do I apply my previous skills and experience?

• How can I adapt the methods of others to fit my preferences, temperament, and gifts?

• How can I enlist others for support, guidance, and partnership?

These questions get us moving. We begin testing, getting feedback, self-correcting.

Movement is the most important thing.

Movement itself creates the strongest motivation and momentum.

And HOW questions are the key to maintaining movement.

They are the tipping point from possibility to probability.

Together, let's end the fight to change…
